A Francophonie evening at the Alliance Française de Lyon

Back to the list

Francophonie Month celebrates the richness of the French language around the world, with events designed to promote its speakers and cultures. On Thursday March 27, the Alliance Française de Lyon organized an evening of sharing and discovery,

« Dis moi dix mots » for the planet

The evening revolved around the “Dis-moi dix mots” operation, which each year invites people to explore French under a specific theme. For 2025, the theme chosen was “Pour la planète” (for the planet), a topical subject that raises awareness of environmental preservation through the words and expressions of the language. Through various activities, participants were invited to make these ten words their own, integrating them into games, debates and artistic creations.

10 words :  biome, butiner, canopée, conséconscient, débrousser, empreinte, glaner, palmeraie, solaire, vivant.

A play: “La vie en vert” (Life in green)

One of the highlights of the evening was the performance of the play “La vie en vert”, written and directed by Charlotte Casale and Nathalie Bonnin two teachers from the Alliance Française de Lyon. he project mobilized a group of student volunteers who, after several weeks of rehearsals, performed this original creation. The work sessions were punctuated by warm-up exercises, voice and posture games, and the allocation of roles to bring the characters to life. This play, both playful and engaging, captivated the audience by tackling the environmental challenges facing our society with humor and sensitivity.

Performed by Oswald Jack (Angleterre), Max Roche (Angleterre), Ekaterina Shipitsova (Russie), Renata Mendonca (Portugal), Hayley Mckerrel (Australie), Katerina Christiansen (Etats-Unis) et Angela Pineda Guerrero (Colombie).

“It was an opportunity to improve our French in an original and unique way” ‘I would do it again without hesitation’ – Katerina

An open Slam stage

After theater, it was time for spontaneous speech with an open slam stage, supervised by Vincent, a teacher with a passion for slam who passed on his enthusiasm to the participants. Far from being a simple performance, this space for expression enabled the students to work on their diction, creativity and oral fluency. For most of them, this was their first experience on stage, a challenge they met with flying colors thanks to preparatory workshops in which they practiced writing, reciting and voicing powerful texts.

Performed by Mahya Namazi (Iran), Pamela Brown (Italie) et Tilman Eicke (Allemagne)

Entertainment and quizzes

After these artistic performances, participants were able to wander around the building to take part in a variety of interactive activities: quizzes, workshops and games based on the French-speaking world and the environment. These activities helped to deepen the participants’ knowledge, while encouraging exchanges and conviviality.

Thank you all for an exceptional evening!

“It’s an opportunity for students to enrich their command of the language, encourage exchanges between levels and reinforce a genuine spirit of solidarity” – Charlotte and Nathalie
