Language workshops at the Alliance Française de Lyon

In 2025, the Alliance Française de Lyon is pleased to collaborate with the Caravane des Dix Mots to offer language workshops to its students. The Caravane des Dix Mots is an international cultural project aimed at exploring the French language beyond its definitions, highlighting the richness and cultural diversity of each individual. Present in several countries, it encourages expression and exchange around words and languages.
Immersive and interactive sessions
In February, two sessions were organized: one for level A1 and a second for level B2. Each workshop, lasting one hour, gave participants a fun way of immersing themselves in the richness of the French language and the French-speaking world.
The workshop for the B2 group, for example, used maps of the world to get students to present their countries of origin and the languages they speak. Using counters, they also identified the French-speaking countries they knew. The mediator then introduced them to a variety of languages, some well known and others rarer, such as Peul, Martinique Creole and Tibetan. The session continued with participants listening carefully to a number of languages, which they had to recognize and place correctly.
A sustainable and enriched project
As these workshops are scheduled to become monthly, the Alliance Française de Lyon will extend their duration to two hours. The aim remains the same: to enrich students’ language experience in an interactive and engaging way. In addition, the Alliance Française de Lyon also plans to set up cultural workshops to further broaden the experience, although the details are yet to be defined.
Our warmest thanks go to the Caravane des Dix Mots for this invaluable collaboration, as well as to Nathalie Bonnin, FLE teacher and head of the pedagogical-cultural project, whose involvement has greatly contributed to the success of these workshops. A wonderful initiative that promises to be a lasting part of the school’s life!
